Wilbur Smith has a good imagination, that's true. I loved River God as well, but I think the characters of his book are fictional. For a further reminder of his abilities, read "the Sunbird" which describes an exiled Carthaginian city in central Africa, and is as good as read as either River God or the Seventh Scroll.
